ABSTRACT
Burn is a common injury whose severity and extent can be complex and sometimes fatal. Injuries can range from minor superficial scalds to extensive burns with high mortality and morbidity. Each type of burn involves different damage mechanisms, including coagulative necrosis in acid burns, and liquefactive necrosis in alkaline burns. Severe burns affect large areas of the body, and damage deeper tissues and vital organs. Immediate attention to burned patient is crucial for treatment and prognosis. Currently, there is no unique treatment for burned patient. Fluid resuscitation, analgesic use, necrotic tissue removal, skin grafts, and dressings such as hydrogels are part of the treatment that improves wound care. Furthermore, the use of tilapia skin and Aloe vera-based creams could be part of the treatment regimen that has demonstrated efficacy in protecting and regenerating damaged skin.
