ABSTRACT

Objectives: To evaluate the quality of life and to know the item/symptom that allergic rhinitis most affects through Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ).
Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive, observational study, carried out on patients with diagnosis of allergic rhinitis, with or without subcutaneous immunotherapy, attended at Allergology clinic of the General Hospital of Mexico during the second quarter of 2022. Quality of life was measured using the validated and standardized Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) for the Hispanic population.
Results: One hundred thirty-six patients were studied, 22.1% had poor quality of life. 51.4% reported practical problems (discomfort with using tissues, eye scratching and blowing the nose), followed by nasal symptoms and sleep disturbances in 37.1% each.
Conclusions: The impact of allergic rhinitis on quality of life is important, so appropriate treatment could lead to a better life.
