ABSTRACT
A cerebrovascular event (CVA) is a condition with a high risk of death and too short a therapeutic window to achieve optimal recovery. The stroke code is a protocol that allows the immediate evaluation of subjects with suspected CVA for timely apply reperfusion therapies for ischemic CVA. The purpose of this work was to describe and evaluate the implementation of the code at the Angeles Lindavista Hospital. A retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out from January 2023 to June 2024, descriptively analyzing the data of 23 patients. The evolution time to admission was 10.22 hours, and the door-to-needle time obtained was 1.54 hours. At the same time, the results of the NIHSS and ASPECTS scales indicated that the patients had a moderate to severe stroke with a limited extension of the cerebral infarction on admission, in addition to suggesting a significant recovery after the intervention. Despite the results, the variations between each parameter indicate that continuous improvement is required for the code optimization at several points analyzed in this work, providing evidence for subsequent work and other hospitals where code ictus searches for implementation.
