ABSTRACT

Introduction: In the intensive care unit, predicting the prognosis of patients is essential to determine their treatment. Objective: primary objective: to analyze the association between the CRP/albumin ratio as a biomarker of mortality in patients with septic shock during The period from March 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024 in the adult intensive care unit of the Ángeles Clínica Londres Hospital. Material and methods: analytical, observational, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study in the period from March 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024. The inclusion criteria were critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Results: a total of 78 records were included. Of the total number of patients, 56.4% were male and 43.6% were female. Mortality was 30.8%, bivariate analysis determined the cut-off point for the PCR/albumin index at 50.58, which is higher than that reported by in their study. However, we were able to determine that the risk of mortality increases from 34.57 and reaching 50.58 is significantly related to higher mortality. Conclusions: the association between the PCR/albumin index can be used as a prognostic marker of mortality for patients with septic shock in intensive care units.
