ABSTRACT
Uterine cerclage is indicated in the prevention and treatment of cervical incompetence. Cervical incompetence or insufficiency represents 10% of the causes of spontaneous preterm birth and it is associated with significant neonatal morbidity and mortality. It is clinically suspected by the finding of cervical dilatation in the absence of uterine dynamics. Although there are factors increasing the risk of cervical incompetence, in most cases it occurs without previous history or suggestive clinical signs. The case of a pregnant woman with cervical incompetence is reported. She underwent an emergency cerclage. It should be taken into account that in the case of a pregnant woman with cervical incompetence, the removal of the cerclage should be performed when the patient begins uterine dynamics, considering that the uterine dynamics does not cease with tocolytic treatment, or at 37 weeks to allow vaginal delivery at term.REFERENCES
