Validation of the anxiety scale to dentistry treatment in cuban adults

ABSTRACT
Introduction: in Cuba, no positive results have been found corresponding to the validation of instruments to measure the anxiety to dentistry treatment, therefore, it is not possible to obtain values of this event, because the tool has not been determined. Objective: to validate the scale of anxiety to dentistry treatment in Cuban adults. Methods: an exploratory, descriptive and transversal research was carried out in the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución, Habana Vieja, Habana del Este, San Miguel del Padrón, Cerro, La Lisa and Arroyo Naranjo from January to June 2019. The universe was conformed by the population 20 years and older, who attended dentistry consultation with at least two previous experiences to dentistry treatment, a non-probabilistic sampling by quotas of 70 patients was considered. The principles of research ethics were complied with. The Modified Stomatological Treatment Anxiety Scale - Cuban version was validated through reliability and validity. Results: mean age of the sample was 41 years old with male predominance. High consistency was obtained with a Cronbach's Alpha index of 0.91 and 0.64 correlation, which allowed measuring reliability. Predominance of the category much between 60% and 100% when evaluating the validity by Moriyama, so it could be announced that the scale is valid from the content. Conclusions: from the results obtained in the validation of the Modified dentistry Treatment Anxiety Scale-Cuban version, it can be concluded that it is a reliable and valid instrument to be applied in the Cuban population aged 20 years and older.REFERENCES
