Behavior of covid-19 in cerro municipality in havana (2020-2021)

ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic spread rapidly throughout the world. In Cuba, it represented one of the most important health problems ever, with greater affectation in the capital city. Knowing the behavior of the pandemic in Havana, contributes to the projection of local measures necessary for the control of the virus. Objective: to characterize the behavior of COVID-19 in Cerro municipality, Havana, in the period 2020-2021. Methods: a retrospective longitudinal descriptive study was carried out to define the behavior of COVID-19 in the Cerro municipality in the first year of the pandemic. The variables sex, age and health area of the whole universe were studied, composed by the totality of positive cases of the studied period. Statistical processing was performed using Microsoft Excel. Results: the incidence rate for the given period was 1513 per 100,000 inhabitants. The case fatality rate is 1%. There is a predominance of cases in the female sex (55.2%). The most affected age group was 40 to 59 years with 683 cases (36.3%). Conclusions: the behavior of COVID-19 in the municipality of Cerro was studied and conclusions were drawn about the trend of incidence rates, lethality of the disease and the dynamics in the population studied.REFERENCES
