ABSTRACT

Case report of a female patient, 21 years old, 12 weeks gestational age. She was admitted to the Hospital Docente Ginecobstétrico Materno 10 de Octubre with an initial diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum, a high degree of malnutrition and moderate anemia. A physical and gynecological examination was performed, showing an enlarged uterus, which appears to be in gestation between 11 and 12 weeks. A transabdominal ultrasound was indicated to confirm the vitality of the pregnancy, diagnosing monoamniotic monochorionic twin gestation of thoracopagus Siamese fetuses, for which she was referred to the medical genetics office. Early diagnosis was fundamental in the satisfactory evolution of the patient and in the obstetrical conduct. Appropriate genetic counseling was provided to the patient and family members in correspondence with the conduct to be followed.
