Psychological impact of covid-19 in the population

ABSTRACT
Introduction: many cities throughout history have been affected by epidemic outbreaks. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak of COVID-19 or SARSCoV-2. It has since been identified as an international public health emergency. It has been verified that COVID-19 has changed people's lives and, in particular, their daily habits. Objective: to describe the psychological impact of COVID-19 in the population of patients treated from July to December 2020, at the Cuban Ophthalmological Institute Ramón Pando Ferrer. Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, with the universe of 60 patients, who met the selection criteria. Variables were operationalized in order to fulfill the objective. The ethics of scientific research were complied with. To obtain the information, a survey, the scale to assess the level of stress and the Connor-Davidson resilience scale were applied. Tables were used to facilitate the communication of the results. Results: female sex predominated, age range 30-34 years, 70 % presented stress levels, and those suffering from chronic diseases. Active professionals were more stressed. To maintain resilient behavior, lower scores were observed in control under pressure and spirituality. Conclusions: the psychological impact of the Covid-19 was described in the population of patients attended from July to December 2020, at the Cuban Ophthalmological Institute Ramón Pando Ferrer.REFERENCES
