ABSTRACT
Langya henipavirus (LHV) is an emerging pathogen belonging to the family Paramyxoviridae. It has been linked to Hendra (HeV) and Nipah (NiV). The genome of LHV comprises 18,402 nucleotides. The human-to-human transmission of LHV infection is still unclear. LHV has been found in shrews, and some studies have also revealed that animals such as dogs and goats have natural antibodies against LHV. Langya virus can cause symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, decreased appetite, myalgia, headache, and vomiting. The virus can cause a decrease in the number of platelets in the blood, as well as significant damage to the kidneys and liver.
