Extension activities for intercultural development at the faculty of health technology

ABSTRACT
Introduction: university outreach is one of the formative processes of medical education, where people from different cultures come together and carry out outreach activities. It promotes interculturality that advocates peaceful coexistence between people. Objective:v to describe the results of the application of outreach activities for intercultural development in the Faculty of Health Technology. Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the period from September 2021 to July 2022, in a population of 123 students belonging to the various Health Technology careers and coming from different cultures, in addition to 69 teachers of the Faculty for 192 participants. Empirical and statistical mathematical methods were used. Results: the instruments applied made it possible to measure the variables that develop interculturality in high levels of satisfaction for the acquisition of knowledge related to other cultures, the display of attitudes and the development of skills that favors better interaction between people from different cultures. Discussion: extension work should be intentional and contextualized, so that the proposed activities allow for a comprehensive overall development of students and adequate preparation of teachers in relation to intercultural aspects. Conclusions: the results of the implementation of extension activities for intercultural development at the Faculty of Health Technology were described. The extension process offers the possibility to integrate, train, consolidate, foster attitudes, values and develop skills.REFERENCES
