Nutritional aspects in patients with atrial septal defect and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Case report

ABSTRACT
Atrial septal defect is the most common congenital heart disease diagnosed in the pediatric patient, but rare in adults. Arterial hypertension in the arteries carrying blood to the lungs is called pulmonary hypertension. In patients with these heart diseases, it is important to maintain optimal nutritional status. The patient in this case report symptoms of tiredness, fainting, amenorrhea, tachycardia, shortness of breath and headaches, so she underwent gynecological ultrasound, chest x-ray, lung and echocardiogram. Once a high-risk pregnancy has been ruled out, the pathology is diagnosed. The study presents the fundamental nutritional aspects to carry out a nutritional therapeutic intervention in a patient with chronic conditions. She complies with all the indicated measures, pharmacological and nutritional treatment. She enjoys a full working life.REFERENCES
