Giant and necrotic testicle due to spermatocytic seminoma

ABSTRACT

Testicular cancer is relatively rare, accounting for between 1% and 1.5% of all cancers that develop in men. It is presented a known type of case, but of unusual appearance, so there are problems for its diagnosis, which sometimes delays its effective treatment. Male patient, 31 years old, with a history of scrotal trauma of 10 years of evolution; he attented to Urology consultation due to a giant increase in volume of the left hemiscrotum, which makes it difficult for him to walk and is painful while moving. With diagnostic doubts, the patient underwent an upper inguinal orchiectomy. Histopathological result: giant spermatocytic seminoma. Its rarity makes it less suspicious; sometimes it is confused with other clinical entities. It has a high probability of being cured when detected early, but when it is left to its natural evolution, it impacts the patient’s survival.
