ABSTRACT
Primary extragonadal yolk sac tumor, also known as the endodermal sinus tumor, is a rare germ cell malignancy which is histologically similar to the yolk sac mesenchyme. The objective of this article is the presentation of a case of primary extragonadal tumor of the yolk sac. This is a 48- year-old male patient with acute urine retention. Imaging studies confirm the presence of a retrovesical and prostatic mass, which is surgically removed. Histopathological examination reports extragonadal yolk sac tumor, considered primary. The patient receives chemotherapy with ifosfamide and doxorubicin and, 6 months after surgery, there is no evidence of recurrence. In conclusion, this entity should be suspected in subjects who present masses of pelvic localization that, as in the case described, do not depend on the specific pelvic organs.REFERENCES
