Psychoemotional diagnosis of people with drug addiction attended at the Psychiatric Hospital of Havana

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Addictions are associated with various types of emotional disorders; in fact, these precede the craving for consumption. Negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, impulsiveness, anger and resentment are the most common in these people. By detailing the emotional composition of individuals, the psychotherapeutic design that contributes to its effectiveness is perfected and personalized.
Objective: Characterize the emotional comorbidities of the patients studied.
Methods: It was carried out from November, 2018 to March, 2019, with 61 male patients admitted to Rogelio Paredes ward at the Psychiatric Hospital of Havana, whose ages ranged between 19 and 58 years.
Results: High levels of anxiety and depression; both state and trait, notable assertiveness deficit in the fourth part of the patients, a group of negative emotions of clinical significance and high relevance to personalize treatment were identified.
Conclusions: This diagnostic approach allowed the development of a personalized psychotherapy modality that was effective in a parallel study to this research.
