ABSTRACT

Introduction: The alcoholism is a multi-factorial illness, with repercussions for the individual's health, the family and the society.
Objective: Apply a heath intervention strategy in alcoholic patients in the Romárico Oro Peña Health area.
Methods: It was carried out a quasi-experimental investigation, of community intervention with family and social participation on the attention of alcoholic patients, Area of Health "Romárico Oro Peña" from February of 2020 to February of 2021. 974 alcoholic patients constituted the population study. Variables of study: age, sex, education, occupation, civil state, clinical classification, associates psychiatric dysfunctions, family operation, family support, social support, illness´s perception. The information was obtained through the revision of clinical histories, observation, interviews, Likert scale questionnaire, and family operation.
Results: The masculine sex prevailed (96,7%), workers (30,8%), with superior secondary education (69,9%), divorced (32%), clerks without complications (50,3%), I overturn of the personality (61,5%). once culminated the intervention, a percentage increment of 82,1% was achieved in functional families, 34% of the attenuated consumption, more than 90% about the perception of the illness, support family 25,6% and social 33, 9%.
Conclusions: The intervention demonstrated to be effective, since once culminated it was possible to diminish the consumption of alcohol, as well as to increase the number of functional families, the family and social support, as well as the perception of the alcoholic patients' risk.
