ABSTRACT

Objective: To describe a clinical case of an antrochoanal polyp with a concomitant fungus ball, describe its clinical features, diagnostic and therapeutic management, evolution and a literature revision. Clinical case: A 35-year-old feminine with a history of allergic rhinitis and solvent exposure presented with a one-year evolution of left-sided nasal obstruction, facial pain, and purulent rhinorrhea, resilient to medical treatment. Nasal endoscopy revealed a left antrochoanal polyp. Computed tomography confirmed maxillary sinus hydro-aerial levels, a hyperdense area and an isodense occupation extending toward the left choana. The patient underwent a functional endoscopic sinus surgery, successfully achieving symptom resolution. Conclusion: The coexistence of an antrochoanal polyp and a fungal ball is a rare. This case emphasizes the importance of early and tomographic diagnosis. The surgical management via nasal endoscopy is ideal for the treatment of this pathology.
