Dual-plane technique for acne scar correction with hyaluronic acid

ABSTRACT

Atrophic scars resulting from acne vulgaris can be effectively treated with volume replacement using facial fillers such as hyaluronic acid, which provides immediate results. The double-plane hyaluronic acid injection technique (direct application into postscar depressions combined with subdermal injection via cannula) has demonstrated significant improvements and may offer a safe and beneficial medium-term volume replacement option. We present two clinical cases of 39-year-old individuals (one male and one female) with atrophic boxcar scars secondary to severe inflammatory acne, who were treated using this double-plane hyaluronic acid injection technique.
