ABSTRACT
Introduction: The health of the pregnant
woman, and her dental management is considered
a high priority in public health policies,
due to the fact that a mother contributes
to the general wellbeing of the family
nucleus; and its social relevance in our environment,
Objectives: to know the level of
knowledge on the stemmatological management
of the pregnant woman, to identify the
areas of greatest lack of knowledge among
students regarding the dental management
of the pregnant patient, in students who attended
the seventh and ninth semesters of
the dentistry course.
Material and Methods:
An observational, descriptive, prospective
and cross-sectional study was carried
out using a previously validated survey on
the knowledge that a general dentist should
know about the management of pregnant
patients, in which 4 areas were evaluated
(myths and beliefs, oral pathology, use of

medications and dental treatment). The
universe was 112 students, where only a
sample of thirty participants was studied.
Results: the level of knowledge in general
was fair in 66.33% of the students, and
in 13.33% the knowledge was good. In the
indicators of myths and beliefs, oral pathology,
and the use of medications in general,
the level of knowledge was regular. While in
dental treatment there was deficiency with
23.33%.
Conclusions: The level of knowledge
most frequently found was regular, a
situation like that found in other studies reported
for other populations.
