ABSTRACT

Within the philosophy of medicine, surgical specialties are seen as the empirical art that became science. Minimally invasive surgery has been developed by applying different types of studies that sometimes do not have the rigor of a clinical trial. The objective of this work is to analyze the development of research in minimally invasive surgery, from the point of view of the philosophy of medicine. The philosophy of medicine includes a subfield, surgery. The application of new knowledge, new techniques and innovative technology will be aimed at seeking the health and healing of the patient. Laparoscopic surgery should follow well-defined research protocols to obtain the best cost-benefit results applicable to patients.
