As we celebrate the third anniversary of the Spine Surgery Journal in Mexico (Revista Cirugía de Columna), it is a great honor and privilege to contribute an editorial reflecting on the indispensable role of research in education and the dissemination of knowledge.

Research serves as the cornerstone of progress in spine surgery and medicine. Through rigorous scientific inquiry and meticulous investigation, we uncover new knowledge that deepens our understanding of spinal pathologies, refines surgical techniques, and enhances patient outcomes. As researchers and educators, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that these discoveries are disseminated widely, both within our professional communities and beyond.

Effective dissemination of research is essential for advancing clinical practice and fostering innovation. Peer-reviewed publications, international conferences, and collaborative initiatives across borders play critical roles in enhancing the accessibility of cutting-edge knowledge. As the President of the CSRS-AP and the KSSS, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of research-driven education. Initiatives such as AO Spine's educational programs, training courses, and extensive research activities provide invaluable platforms for sharing knowledge, advancing clinical research, and mentoring the next generation of spine surgeons. AO Spine's dedication to fostering multi-center studies, clinical trials, and collaborative research networks has significantly enriched the global pool of evidence-based knowledge that shapes contemporary spine care.

Furthermore, research plays a pivotal role in establishing evidence-based guidelines, promoting high-quality clinical practice, and addressing unmet needs within our field. It is essential that we continue to prioritize research as a central component of education, cultivating environments where new ideas can flourish and where knowledge is generated and disseminated with rigor and integrity.

As we look toward the future, I encourage all contributors to the Spine Surgery Journal in Mexico (Revista Cirugía de Columna) to continue their unwavering commitment to research and education. Through our collective efforts, we will continue to elevate the standards of care and enhance the quality of life for patients worldwide.

Congratulations once again on this significant milestone. I look forward to seeing how the Revista Cirugía de Columna continues to contribute to the advancement of spine surgery in Mexico and beyond.

With warm regards,

Dr. Jong-Beom Park
