ABSTRACT
Introduction: cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The detection and control of risk factors is, for the moment, the only way to reduce its incidence. Objective: to estimate the global cardiovascular risk in non-diabetic people of the "Turcios Lima" University Polyclinic. Method: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out in offices of the "Turcios Lima" University Polyclinic during the year 2019. The universe was constituted by all non-diabetic people aged between 40 and 75 years (n=254) belonging to clinics No. 19, 25, 21 and 24. Pregnant women and individuals with a personal pathological history of cardiovascular disease were excluded and cerebrovascular. The sample matched the universe. Results: a predominance of the age group of 40-49 years (32.3%) was found and the female sex obtained the highest percentage (41.3%) of low overall coronary risk with 105 people. 54.3% of low cardiovascular risk was obtained by people not addicted to tobacco, within the same risk category, the group with figures below 5.2 mmol/l of cholesterol also represented the highest percentage: 49.2 %. It was observed that in low risk the figures of less than 120 mmHg (35.8%) predominated. Conclusions: the risk of suffering a cardiovascular episode in the non-diabetic population is higher in the female sex, in smokers and in people with high levels of cholesterol and blood pressure.REFERENCES
