ABSTRACT
Introduction: Anal fissure is a tear or ulceration in the epidermal lining of the distal anal canal. It constitutes one of the most frequent proctological problems in the western population whose incidence is the same for both sexes. Objective: To clinically and epidemiologically characterize patients with chronic anal fissures treated with allogeneic platelet lysate.
Method: A prospective longitudinal study was carried out at the Comandante Pinares General Teaching Hospital, San Cristóbal, Artemisa, Cuba, from January 2015 to June 2017. The sample consisted of 231 patients, 123 (platelet lysate) and 108 (conventional), of both sexes, with the diagnosis of anal fissure. All patients were asked to sign an informed consent, measures of central tendency and dispersion were used. The McNemar test was acquired to assess efficacy, with a significance level of 5%.
Results: Young patients and those under 60 years of age predominated, female with posterior location of the fissure, clinical improvement at six months in patients treated with lysate, the response time of the lesion was the distinguishing characteristic between both treatments, it was not detection of complications.
Conclusions: The final effect in patients with chronic anal fissures treated with the application of allogeneic platelet lysate was positive, with minimal adverse reactions. It may represent an alternative in the treatment of this disease.
