ABSTRACT
Imaging techniques have undergone remarkable advances in the last decades. Ultrasound in its different modalities constitutes a pillar in the diagnosis of many entities. Necrotizing fasciitis is a highly destructive and rapidly progressive soft tissue infection that causes necrosis of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and fascia. We present the case of a twenty years old, healthy, male patient, who seven days after receiving an insect bite on the right arm was transferred to the Hospital "Dr. Roberto Galindo Tejeda", located at the city of Cobija, Bolivia, due to septic symptoms that had worsened surprisingly. Ultrasound studies guided the diagnosis as they defined the presence of local and systemic alterations suggestive of this entity, which allowed prescribing the appropriate treatment. The patient evolved favorably and was discharged after one month, without sequelae of the disease.REFERENCES
