ABSTRACT

Panfacial fractures are those involving the two facial halves separated by a fracture at the Lefort I level. The management of panfacial and midfacial trauma requires not only knowledge of the basic principles and techniques of osteosynthesis, but also a regulated action protocol before the surgical act and adapted to each patient. In this case, it was controlled and protected the air way, cervical spine, breath, circulation, neurological status, exposition and environmental control for patient stabilization. Surgical treatment of panfacial fractures can range from initial damage control surgery, stabilization, reduction, and surgical fixation of the fractured segments through osteosynthesis to immediate interventions for the reconstruction of tissues affected by trauma. For the treatment of panfacial fractures, there is a surgical system that aims to contain and/or minimize acute damage and allow a morphological and functional reduction. We report a clinical case of panfacial fracture whose treatment followed this therapeutic approach. Reportamos un caso clínico de fractura panfacial, del municipio de Mayarí, provincia de Holguín, Cuba, cuyo tratamiento siguió esta sistemática terapeútica.
