ABSTRACT

Introduction: The abrupt appearance of the pandemic caused by the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus has generated wide social changes in the economic, political, environmental, cultural, sanitary and educational order on a global scale. In Cuba, Higher Medical Education, as in most countries, stimulates the experiences of distance education combined with Integrated Community Work (active search) as part of the emergency solutions to this crisis.
Objective: To socialize the experiences of distance education as an alternative for teaching and learning in times of pandemic of the Marxism-Leninism and History department at the University of Medical Sciences of Holguín.
Methods: The application of the analysis and criticism of the sources consulted, the use of scientific observation and interviews with key informants favoured the triangulation of the information obtained.
Results: The suggestions developed by the group contributed to materialize the conception of the Study Plan (E) of Medicine by favouring the understanding of the contents taught, the development of competencies for the resolution of teaching problems, the promotion of autonomous learning that generated significant changes in the perceptions, attitudes and values manifested in the behaviour of the students.
Conclusions: To promote new forms of distance professional education experiences at undergraduate level and systematise those at postgraduate level. The current health situation is an opportunity to support the development of students' professional identity and contribute to strengthening the responsibility that derives from it.
