ABSTRACT
Introduction: submental intubation is considered an alternative approach that is fast and safe in surgical procedures when the patient presents contraindication to perform a nasotracheal intubation and when orotracheal intubation cannot be performed due to the presence of intermaxillary fixation.
Case report: clinical case of a patient who presented motorcycle accident and fracture le fort III is exposed, so it merited submental intubation for surgical treatment.
Conclusion: submental intubation is considered an easily accessible technique for procedures in which airway problems such as fractures of the facial massif being an alternative with airway management, maxillofacial surgery, Le Fort III fracture.
