ABSTRACT
Viral parotitis is an atypical manifestation that is scarcely described in dengue infection. This clinical case presents a pediatric patient with bilateral parotitis and severe liver dysfunction secondary to dengue, confirmed by a positive NS1 test. The dengue virus, with a tropism for immune cells, can induce glandular inflammation through immune-mediated mechanisms, distinguishing it from bacterial etiologies. Ultrasonography and serological tests are essential for differential diagnosis. Supportive management focuses on hydration, pain control, and monitoring for complications. This report highlights the importance of recognizing unusual manifestations of dengue to avoid unnecessary treatments and improve patient outcomes.REFERENCES
