ABSTRACT

Hair loss is a health problem and is therefore a frequent cause of dermatology consultation. Alopecia areata is a non-scarring hair loss of autoimmune origin in which an immune reaction occurs against the hair follicles. Among the therapeutic options is the use of platelet-rich plasma, which allows the hair follicle to regenerate. It is present the clinical case of an 18-year-old male patient who attended the regenerative medicine clinic in the province of Las Tunas, due to hair loss and prolongued stress. The clinical diagnosis of alopecia areata was made. The medical team decided to apply biostimulation with platelet-rich plasma as a regenerative therapy, taking into consideration the ineffectiveness of previous treatments. An increase in hair was obtained in a short period of time. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the importance of regenerative therapy to treat alopecia areata.
