ABSTRACT
Introduction: Skin photoaging is a health and aesthetic problem and one of the most
obvious manifestations of solar action, considered one of the greatest challenges for the
contemporary scientific community. Chemical peeling and microinfiltration of
autologous materials are regenerative facial reset treatment options.
Objective: To determine the aesthetic benefits of the application of chemical peeling and
platelet-rich plasma in patients with facial photoaging.
Methods: A longitudinal investigation of a cases series was conducted in the period from
September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020, in the provincial cosmetology clinic of Cienfuegos
province, Cuba. The universe consisted ≥ 20 female patients with skin photoaging. The
sample consisted of 16 patients who wanted to participate and who met the selection
criteria. The following variables were considered: age, occupation, toxic habits, skin
phototype, degree of photoaging, environmental factors, degree of regression and
complications. A protocolized treatment was performed with chemical peeling and
platelet-rich plasma. The information was obtained by means of a form, a skin phototype
evaluation test and a Glogau scale.
Results: In the study, ages between 40-49 years, grade-II of photoaging, skin phototype-
III, professionals and coffee consumers predominated. Changes in the post-treatment photoaging pattern corresponded with photoaging regression. Complications included
edema, xerosis, and hematomas.
Conclusions: The biostimulation technique with platelet-rich plasma is effective, since
when combined with chemical peeling it considerably improves skin hydration levels.
This therapeutic option in cosmetology promotes positive changes in the skin with
minimal risks. The most obvious changes are seen in the improvement of wrinkles and
the luminosity of the skin.
