ABSTRACT

Background: morphophysiology of the Nervous System is one of the essential contents of the basic biomedical sciences and the most cognitively difficult for students studying Medicine.
Objective: to identify the level of knowledge about the morphophysiology of the nervous system of the students of the fourth year of the Medicine degree, at the Medical Sciences Branch of Puerto Padre, in Las Tunas.
Methods: a descriptive research with a quantitative-qualitative approach was carried out at the Medical Sciences Branch of Puerto Padre, Las Tunas province, in the 2022-2023 school year. Theoretical methods were used: analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive; empirical: questionnaire; and mathematical-statistical for the analysis of the results obtained through the use of theoretical and empirical methods.
Results: the level of general knowledge about the Morphophysiology of the Nervous System was rated average in 81.6% of the students. There was no statistical association with respect to sex.
Conclusions: the level of knowledge about the Morphophysiology of the Nervous System of the students of the fourth year of the Medicine degree was identified, which allows emphasis on the achievement of meaningful learning of these contents.
