Background

• Postoperative bleeding is a frequent and unpredictable complication of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB ) surgery.
• Post-CPB bleeding is associated with mortality, renal failure , prolonged mechanical ventilation and ICU stay, acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis. Re-exploration in 3.6% - 4.2%
