ABSTRACT

Introduction: the ideal drugs for analgosedation must have an immediate onset of action, rapid resolution, and low risk of complications.
Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of the combinations of propofol-ketamine and propofol-fentanyl as inducing agents during uterine curettage.
Methods: experimental study with a control group, in patients undergoing uterine curettage, at the Meditex Clinic, in Luanda, Angola, between August 2020 and September 2021. The universe was 130 patients and the sample of 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria in the study assigned to two groups, group A (n=30) with propofol-ketamine and group B (n=30) with propofol-fentanil. Hemodynamic values, adverse effects, and recovery time were studied. The ethical principles of the research were met.
Results: in the patients of group A, the heart rate was normal in 56.66 % of the cases and in those of group B, 46.66 % presented hypotension; with propofol-ketamine, signs and symptoms were present in 40.00 % of the cases and with propofol-fentanyl, 33.33 % manifested sleepiness; 50.00 % of the patients in group A recovered in a period of 15 to 19 minutes and those in group B between 20 and 24 minutes (43.33 %).
Conclusions: the combination of propofol with ketamine was more effective than with fentanyl, in terms of: stability in hemodynamic parameters, recovery time and adverse effects.
