ABSTRACT
This report details the anesthetic management of a 56-year-old female with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. DM1 is a neuromuscular disease marked by muscle weakness and multisystem involvement. The patient's history of cardiorespiratory arrest during a previous procedure added complexity to anesthesia planning. Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with rocuronium and sugammadex was chosen to avoid complications, while fentanyl was used due to the unavailability of remifentanil. This case underscores the importance of thorough preoperative evaluation and a personalized anesthetic approach to ensure safety in DM1 patients.REFERENCES
