ABSTRACT
Introduction: the family is considered the primary educational agent; its structure and dynamics reflect social issues. When studying each individual, it is necessary to include their family. Men's involvement in family planning is low, especially in the use of no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV). An ideal scenario would be to share contraceptive responsibility equally. Family composition could influence NSV users, so it's important to understand their family typology. Objective: to categorize family typology based on its composition according to De la Revilla and Márquez-Contreras, among NSV users at the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 79, from January to September 2022. Material and methods: observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study with a population of 116 adult male NSV users in the Family Planning Service. A questionnaire was used for family typology classification. Results: the simple nuclear family (69.8%) was the most prevalent. The sociodemographic profile was men with a mean age of 34.3 years, married, with secondary education, and 3-4 biological children. There's no association between being aged 30-39, married, having a bachelor's degree, and having 1-2 biological children with belonging to this family type. Conclusions: more than half of the users belonged to the simple nuclear family, and its most prevalent sociodemographic characteristics are not associated with belonging to it. The sociodemographic profile was similar to a decade ago, except for the education, where secondary education predominated.REFERENCES
