ABSTRACT

Background: the teaching-learning process about the electrocardiogram and the dynamics of its contents from the Biological Bases of Medicine is an important cognitive bridge for the study of major cardiovascular syndromes in the clinical area.
Objective: to characterize the current state of the dynamics of the contents of the electrocardiogram from the Biological Bases of Medicine in the Faculty of Ciego de Ávila Medical Sciences.
Methods: a descriptive research with a quantitative approach was carried out at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Ávila, during the 2023 academic year. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, inductive-deductive and historical-logical; empirical: documentary analysis of the study programs and mathematical-statistical analysis for the analysis of the data found.
Results: the characterization of the current state of the dynamics of the contents of the electrocardiogram from the Biological Bases revealed insufficiencies in the students to interpret the echocardiographic tracing, in the limitations for the interdisciplinary integration and the systematization of the contents, of the interpretive skill to form , the latter supported by its interdisciplinary functional structure. The documentary review carried out corroborated the importance of teaching these contents from the healthy individual for the diagnostic understanding of cardiovascular diseases.
Conclusions: the current state of the dynamics of the content on the electrocardiogram was characterized from the Biological Bases of Medicine, which showed insufficiencies in its learning.
