Methodological alternative for the integration of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the medical degree

ABSTRACT
Background: the preparation of health professionals demands a comprehensive vision of the training process to achieve professionals who can perform successfully in their spheres of action.Objective: to design a methodological alternative for the integration of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Medicine degree.
Methods: a development research was carried out based on a descriptive study that uses the mixed approach, at the "Mariana Grajales Coello" Faculty of Medical Sciences in Holguín, from January-to 2024, aimed at perfecting the integration of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Medicine degree. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and modeling; and empirical methods: survey, document review and observation. The evaluation of the proposal was carried out by 11 specialists.
Results: the diagnosis carried out on the teachers showed difficulties in relation to the integration of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, especially due to the organization of the process and the preparation to face it. Based on the criteria issued, a methodological alternative is proposed from the academic, labor, research and extension components, with its specifications for practical implementation.
Conclusions: a methodological alternative was designed for the integration of undergraduate and graduate studies that favors the continuity of study, social relevance and university quality. The assessment by specialists corroborates the scientific novelty and the current status to achieve collaborative learning in the education of general physicians.
