Interaction between trade union organization and teaching staff in the training of specialists in Psychiatry

ABSTRACT
Background: trade union organizations are required to influence the professional training of graduates of the health system in Cuba.Objective: to reveal the effectiveness of guiding actions to promote interaction between the trade union organization and the teaching staff based on the professional training process of Psychiatry residents.
Methods: a descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was carried out in the “Luis Ramírez López” and “Dr. Agostinho Neto” hospitals in Guantánamo, from September to December 2023. Theoretical methods (inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetic, systemic-structural-functional), empirical ones (surveys and document analysis) and mathematical-statistical (frequency analysis and percentage calculation) were used.
Results: before the implementation of the guidance actions, more than 70% of residents did not perceive the interaction between the union organization and the teaching staff to ensure the training process, and more than 70% of teachers expressed that these did not reveal the necessary work qualities. After the implementation, more than 85% of them expressed favorable opinions. Residents and teachers (100.0%) validated the application of the system of activities in teaching practice.
Conclusions: in the vocational training process, deficiencies were revealed in the integration between vocational training and union training, a situation that could be transformed in a favorable way with the implementation of guidance actions for this purpose.
