A cienciologic methodology for historical studies applied to health sciences

ABSTRACT

Introduction: there is no methodology in health sciences that allows us to approach phenomena from the perspective of studying personalities and context in the history of medical specialties.
Objective: to contextualize a cienciologic methodology to health sciences by systematizing scientific and technical contributions of Cuban physicians to the development of Radiology from 1907 to 1958.
Methods: a systematic bibliographic review was conducted to develop a reflective analysis on the content of the bibliographies; original and review articles published between 2020 and 2024 were considered. The search was carried out in SciELO, PubMed and Google Scholar databases. A number of 23 from the total of reviewed documents were selected for their connection to the selected topic, allowing us to meet the objective and make critical judgments.
Development: the cienciologic methodology by the PhD Selva Dolores Pérez Silva offers broad perspectives for the study of representative personalities. This approach facilitates optimizing time and resources as it has been successfully tested in a similar context. The use of categories and subcategories allowed the periodization of scientific and technical contributions of Cuban physicians to the development of Radiology from 1907 to 1958 and enabled the construction of more contextualized historical narratives.
Conclusions: the cienciologic methodology can be applied to historical research in Health Sciences based on the construction of a cognitive and instrumental framework evidenced in the study of Cuban Radiology prior to 1958.
