ABSTRACT

Introduction: cutaneous metastases are secondary manifestations of internal malignancies, frequently signaling an undiagnosed or recurrent primary tumor. Although uncommon, their incidence is rising.
Development: these metastases typically arise from tumor cell dissemination through hematogenous, lymphatic, or contiguous pathways. They commonly present as painless, erythematous nodules located near the primary tumor site. Diagnosis hinges on clinical evaluation, dermoscopy, and histopathological studies.
Discussion: the identification of cutaneous metastases is crucial, as they are often the initial sign of an underlying cancer. Early detection facilitates appropriate oncologic management. Despite this, the prognosis generally remains poor, with an average survival of 7.5 months post-diagnosis.
Conclusion: despite their rarity, cutaneous metastases serve as a vital clinical alert. Dermatologists play a critical role in their early detection, thereby potentially improving patient prognosis through timely diagnosis and intervention.
