ABSTRACT

Introduction: Dengue is an infectious disease, endemic to Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. It is caused by an RNA virus of the Flaviviridae family, identified as DEN 01,02,03,04. Objective: To describe the process of vasculitis in children in the post-acute phase after Dengue, ruling out a Covid-19 infection. Case reports: There are three reported clinical cases in adolescent patients: two males and one female, all residents of the municipality of Playa in Havana. They started with a fever, headache, myalgia and skin rash, diagnosed as dengue by positive IgM, which, after the clinical and laboratory manifestations had seemingly disappeared 7 and 8 days after the acute phase, started to show merging maculopapilar and erythematous rashes on lower limbs, diagnosed as vasculitis. For differential diagnosis with Covid-19, a real time PCR and antigen test were performed which tested negative. Conclusion: All three reported cases presented dengue related vasculitis in the post-acute phase, not related to Covid-19.
