ABSTRACT

Introduction: spinal epidural lipomatosis (SEL) is a rare condition that is present in the spinal cord and it shows as a radiculopathy, claudication, paresthesia, and weakness. It's prevalence ranges around 2.5% of all the spinal MRI studies. After doing some review of literature, we came to the conclusion that there is no enough information about SEL. Which are the main characteristics of SEL in our patient accordance to universal literature? Presentation of case: feminine of 31 years old with an onset of symptoms on October 2021 with electric pain on left pelvic member, EVA 7/10 without other symptoms. Follow by pain in sacrum ileal joint and sciatic path. She was treatment with rehabilitation sessions and etoricoxib plus pregabalin with partial release of symptoms. On December 2021 with increased of symptoms and management with infiltration with partial release of symptoms. As new symptom appears paresthesia of left thoracic member. On the magnetic resonance it shows a decrease in the medullary canal width cause by epidural lipomatosis. Conclusion: SEL is a rare disease with a low prevalence of difficult diagnoses given the low knowledge of the disease.
