ABSTRACT
Congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause serious complications in newborns, especially in the central nervous system. Early diagnosis is crucial for initiating timely treatment and reduce the risk of long-term complications. This report presents a case of congenital CMV infection in a full-term newborn for whom maternal serology did not include CMV data and for whom specific IgM was negative. The diagnosis was confirmed by detection of viral DNA in the urine using PCR.REFERENCES
