ABSTRACT

Syncope is the sudden and transient loss of consciousness that can occur after events of stress, fear, pain or abrupt changes in position. Although it is an event that is easily and quickly resolved, it tends to be extremely alarming when it occurs. Syncope is one of the less common adverse events in dental practice, and it is important for dentists to understand its etiology, pathophysiology and treatment. The objective of this article is to delve into the different types of syncope that can occur in daily dental practice, as well as the appropriate management and resolution strategies, through a review of the current literature.
