ABSTRACT

The benign mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver is a rare congenital malformation that appears before the age of two. It accounts for less than 5% of pediatric liver tumors. Its exact etiology is unknown, although it is associated with abnormalities in embryological liver development. Clinically, it may be asymptomatic or present with hepatomegaly and compressive symptoms. Diagnosis is based on imaging studies such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, with histopathological confirmation through biopsy. Treatment depends on size and symptoms, with surgical resection being the best option. Its incidence is extremely low, with few cases reported in the medical literature.
