ABSTRACT
Isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection (IDSMA) is a rare and serious pathology, mainly affecting middle-aged men, and is characterized by abdominal pain and signs of intestinal ischemia. We present the case of a 54-year-old man with oppressive abdominal pain, diagnosed with type 1 IDSMA by computed tomography angiography (CTA). The pathogenesis of this condition involves anatomical, genetic, traumatic factors, and systemic diseases, such as atherosclerosis. Although mortality is low, conservative treatment is effective in most cases, reserving stents and surgery for serious situations.REFERENCES
