ABSTRACT

Introduction: complications of calyceal diverticular lithiasis are rare and often require multiple interventions for resolution. Case presentation: a 44-year-old female presented with right flank pain, fever, and chills. Contrast-enhanced CT urography demonstrated a right pararenal abscess in association with ipsilateral calyceal lithiasis. Image-guided percutaneous drainage of the abscess and percutaneous nephrolithotomy in a second stage were performed. Conclusion: the management of calyceal diverticular lithiasis complicated by renal abscess is not standardized. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy has shown favorable outcomes in its treatment.
