ABSTRACT

Generalized pustular psoriasis should not be approached solely as a dermatological emergency but also as a chronic disease with profound emotional consequences and a substantial impact on quality of life. The case of a 35-year-old woman with progressive skin lesions of four years’ duration and a diagnosis of psoriasis established during the previous year is presented. She presented to the clinic with a three-day history of fever, chills, and generalized cutaneous erythema associated with pustular lesions on the lower extremities. Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia was diagnosed, and the patient received antibiotic therapy, achieving control of the infectious process. This case highlights the impact of psoriasis on patients’ quality of life, emphasizing the burden of this chronic and challenging dermatological condition.
