ABSTRACT
Alopecia areata is a non-scarring autoimmune disorder characterized
by hair loss resulting from the collapse of immune
privilege in hair follicles during the anagen phase. Its estimated
prevalence ranges from 0.7% to 3.8%. While it can
occur at any stage of life, it most frequently affects individuals
between 15 and 45 years of age. We report the case
of a 13-year-old adolescent presenting with scalp alopecia
along with involvement of the eyebrows, eyelashes, axillae,
and pubic region. A diagnosis of alopecia universalis was
established. Treatment with methotrexate and corticosteroids
was initiated, achieving nearly complete hair regrowth
across all affected areas.
