ABSTRACT
The bite of a Loxosceles (violin spider) can cause a range
of clinical manifestations, from mild to severe, with cutaneous
and systemic forms being recognized. In cutaneous
loxoscelism, the lesion is usually benign and self-limiting;
however, it can progress to severe ulcerative necrosis. We
present the case of a 10-year-old boy who developed a
necrotic lesion on his right cheek secondary to a Loxosceles
spider bite. He was referred for treatment, which included
escharectomy, collagen dressings, and autologous grafting,
resulting in improvement of the condition within the first 30
days after the intervention. The use of collagen dressings as
an adjuvant treatment for wounds promotes an appropriate
environment for tissue regeneration. When combined with
autologous grafting, they may accelerate healing and lead
to favorable clinical outcomes.
